Recoring of radiator for the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
The radiator for an emergency genset on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog was worn/leaking and in need of recoring.
A radiator recoring involves dismantling the old radiator, selecting the parts that can be reused, and then sandblasting them to remove paint residue and any impurities. While the old radiator is being dismantled, we start production of a brand new copper/brass core. It’s a process consisting of many different steps, which we describe in more detail here.
With the sandblasted parts and a new core, the parts can be soldered together to create a radiator as good as new. Once soldered together, it’s pressure tested, dried and painted, ready for another trip to the sea.
