Re-coring of radiator for the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
The radiator for the emergency power system on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog was worn and leaking, requiring re-coring.
Re-coring a radiator involves dismantling the old radiator, selecting the parts that can be reused, and then sandblasting them to remove paint residue and impurities. While the old radiator is being dismantled, we begin the production of a brand new copper/brass cooling element. This process involves many different steps, which we describe in more detail here.
Once the sandblasted parts and new element are ready, the components are soldered together to create a radiator as good as new. After soldering, the radiator is pressure-tested, dried, and painted, making it ready for another voyage at sea.
